Pump Technician/ Welder/ Fitter

New Zealand Electrical & Pumps Ltd is an established Hamilton company, the majority of our clients being in the city and greater Waikato area. Our work is diverse and the range of client’s needs (service and projects) is such that a day’s work load can change at short notice. Consistently great customer service is our focus and is what we expect our team to deliver. We have a robust health and safety culture. Clients range from rural lifestyle owners, local councils, farmers and the agricultural industry, homeowners, businesses, commercial operations and retail outlets. 

We are looking for an outgoing, positive, hard-working, customer-focused individual who wants to join the team.

The position involves a mixture of welding or fabrication in the workshop and on site.

You will also be involved in:

  • water pump fitting and repairing, in the workshop or on the customer’s site
  • fault finding
  • associated pipework
  • water treatment sales and installation including fault finding

A good sense of humour and an ability to self-manage and problem solve is vital.

We want welders/fabricators competent with stainless steel, MIG, TIG and stick welding. Welding tickets are advantageous, but if you’re the right person for the job, this is negotiable. If you have the experience and skills to turn out quality work but are not ticketed, we’d still love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to weld precisely
  • Have exceptional workmanship skills
  • Have experience with design drawings and be competent with maths
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude with basic machinery/tools
  • Have previous experience or an interest in water pump repairs and installations
  • Be able to travel (full clean class 1 licence) – domestic travel may be required for site installations
  • Of advantage would be any of the following: an EWRB qualification, class 2 driver’s licence, confined spaces ticket, working at heights certification, crane operator
  • Be Self-motivated
  • Be Reliable & punctual
  • Be able to work flexible work hours
  • Be proactive with health & safety
  • Have great communication skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills
  • Reliable work ethic
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • The ability to engage with customers when on site in a polite manner
